Octagon Creative co-partnered with Design Asia Collective and ASIA Design WEEK hosted ASEAN-CHINA Design Convergence
from 9-11 May. It was a three-day coference and exhibition which featured selected speakers and top designers from ASEAN and China.

PETALING JAYA (25 April 2025) – Creativity, culture and innovation came together in an exciting series of events at Sunway College when the ASEAN-CHINA Design Convergence which took place in early May.
The ASEAN-CHINA Design Convergence is organised by Design Asia Collective (DAC)and Asia Design Week – a platform for design creativity and innovation – and is a three-day event featuring design-sharing sessions with award-winning designers, thought-provoking talks, and exhibitions of curated works. It will be held from 9 to 11 May 2025 at the Jeffrey Cheah Hall on campus.
The speakers in the line-up include top designers and creative minds from across Malaysia and ASEAN-China nations, where some are actively leading transformations at influential research centres and on a global scale. They include Fashio Designer,Kit Woo and Shie Designer, Dato Lewre Lew from Malaysia, Producr Designers,Karson Wong ,Wei Xin and Hu Xiao from China, Graphic Designers, Praseuth Banchongphakdy from Laos ,Siam Attariya from Thailand and Gan Siong Yau from China.
Cross-Cultural Collaboration: The convergence serves as a platform for designers from ASEAN and China to connect, share ideas, and collaborate on projects that blend diverse cultural perspectives. 
Synthesis Competition launched in February 2025 with Open call to Designers in ASEAN and China attracted Product Designers, Digital Artists, Graphic Designers, Fashion and Spatial Designers to join in this inaugural competition . There were a total of 828 submissions from ASEAN -China Countries and five prominent figures in the design of industry comprising of The Director of MRM Majlis reka Bentuk Malaysia , Amirul Fadhi Che Ismail, Zafri merican President of Product Design Association, LiSheng CEO of Asia Design Week, , Kamarul Izam, President of Graphic Design Association , Melisa Wong , Secretary of the Graphic Design association, and Augustine Wong, Sunway College Director of Programme, Fashion Design Technology Studies. TOP 100 designs selected from this competition were exihibited at the ASEAN CHINA DESIGN Convergence Conference from 9-11 May at Sunway College Jeffrey Cheah Hall.

Design Asia Collective is formed as a platform for Design Creativity and Innovation, bringing together design practitioners and academicians in the fields of Product Design, Graphic Design, Digital, Spatial Design, Fashion, Health, Food, Art, and Social.
